Hipster Water Sling makes carrying water easy. The next time you carry yours,
be mindful of our brothers and sister in Haiti who don't have that luxury. www.flickr.com/photos/waterdotorg/show “When you make [people] aware of a problem this serious, but then also make them aware of a solution this practical, I think it’s in peoples’ nature to want to step up and do their part.” – Matt Damon, Water.org co-founder
There is a water crisis in the world – I’m learning more about it every day. As I have fun finding a fashionable way for women to carry water, women in developing countries walk an average of 3.7 miles a day just to collect theirs! The disparity is heartbreaking. Organizations like Water.org tell us that the solutions are already here. “Today’s water crisis is not an issue of scarcity, but of access.” And, just $25 brings one person clean water for life. Please visit www.water.org to learn more about the fixable water crisis in our world and how you can help. Hipster Water Sling is committed to donating 1% of profits to organizations that promote access to and distribution of clean drinking water throughout the world. We just discovered an organization with a mission that nearly exactly matches ours!
Charity: Water is all about those who “have” helping out those who “have not” gain access to the very basic human right of clean drinking water that so many of us take for granted. It takes very little to bring clean drinking water to developing countries where it does not exist. Each of us can make a difference. Check out www.charitywater.org I am on a mission to make carrying a reusable water bottle not only eco-friendly, but fashion forward.
This summer, my product the Hipster Water Sling, a nylon sling with a hip decorative band designed to carry water bottles, is hitting local stores, and I’m hoping people’s hips as well. I always carry a water bottle, but my hands aren’t free and it takes up too much room in my purse and makes it heavy. I discovered the trendy slings made in Peru when a friend from the country came for a visit last fall. We were going for a walk, and as we were heading out the door, she threw this sling over her shoulder and popped her water bottle in. It looked so cute I said ‘what is that?!’” So, I traveled to Peru in February and brought back a few of the slings and showed them to my friends. They loved them, and Whole Foods Market did too and agreed to carry them! The Hipster Water Sling fits bottles up to 27 oz. They are compatible with the popular Klean Kanteen, Sigg Switzerland and Giam reusable water bottles as well as others. The Hipster Water Sling is available at Whole Foods Market throughout the Northeast region and American Terrain in White Plains, NY and at www.hipsterwatersling.com. The slings retail for $9.99. |
